Certification standard

Why UL 752 listing is the only acceptable standard

A claimed ballistic rating is not a certified ballistic rating. Every BulletShield model is independently tested by an accredited laboratory and listed under UL 752 — providing the documented evidence security consultants, government authorities, and insurers require.

1
Level 1 — 9mm Full Metal Case
3 shots per test area. No penetration to witness panel. The most prevalent caliber in commercial security incidents globally. Verified, listed, documentable.
BT1000covers this level
3
Level 3 (UL-HG-C) — .44 Magnum Lead Semi-Wadcutter
3 shots per test area. Approximately 4–5× the muzzle energy of a 9mm round. Encompasses all Level 1 and Level 2 threats. Certified for government, diplomatic, and financial environments.

8
Level 8 (UL-RF-H) — 7.62mm × 39 / 7.62mm × 51 NATO
5 shots per test area. AK-47 and M14 rifle calibers — 15–20× the muzzle energy of a 9mm round. The maximum ballistic protection level in a rolling door assembly. Encompasses all lower levels.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

01 — What does UL 752 actually test?
UL 752 requires the product to withstand a specified number of shots from a defined round at a defined velocity, fired at a defined distance, without bullet penetration to a witness panel placed behind the assembly. Testing is conducted by an accredited independent laboratory under controlled, repeatable conditions. A UL 752 listing is publicly traceable and verifiable.
02 — What is the difference between Level 1, Level 3, and Level 8?
Level 1 tests against 9mm Full Metal Case — the most common commercial security caliber. Level 3 (UL-HG-C) tests against .44 Magnum Lead Semi-Wadcutter — approximately 4–5× the muzzle energy of a 9mm. Level 8 (UL-RF-H) tests against high-powered rifle rounds including 7.62mm × 39 (AK-47) and 7.62mm × 51 NATO (M14) — 15–20× the energy of a 9mm. Selecting the correct level requires a documented threat assessment for the specific facility.
03 — Can I specify without a formal threat assessment?
You can, but Virtual Bridge recommends against it. A threat assessment determines which caliber is credible for your facility. Without it, model selection is based on assumption — meaning you may under-specify or over-specify. Virtual Bridge can recommend regional security consultants with GCC and Africa threat assessment experience.
04 — Can a BulletShield door be combined with a fire rating?
Please contact the Virtual Bridge technical team to discuss combined ballistic and fire rating requirements. Availability depends on the specific model, opening dimensions, and required fire rating duration.
05 — Does Virtual Bridge service installed BulletShield doors after handover?
Yes. Virtual Bridge provides scheduled preventive maintenance, emergency technical support, and compliance documentation updates for all installed BulletShield systems across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and African project territories. Maintenance agreements are available and recommended for all ballistic-resistant installations.

Your threat assessment has identified a ballistic risk.
